DHD is thrilled to announce that the new Squamish Montessori school, one of their recent build projects, is now open at Skyridge on Horizon Drive in Squamish. This new larger location will able to accommodate more children.
Here’s the piece that appeared in the Squamish Chief on February 4, 2019:
DHD It is a day of three Ms at school — Monday, moving and Montessori.
On Monday, Feb. 4, Squamish Montessori Elementary School students and their teachers moved from their former digs on Loggers Lane to the new school at the Skyridge development on Horizon Drive.
The private school serves kindergarten to Grade 6 through its not-for-profit charity, Squamish Montessori Society.
The brand new building has four elementary classrooms and two preschool classrooms with additional space for future expansion, according to a news release from the school.
The building’s Multi-Purpose Room is available for community use after school hours.
“The purpose-built school has been in the works for many years and we’re so grateful to be able to see our vision come to life, and to be able to share it with the community of Squamish,” reads the release.
Some of the students received a grant from Special Education Technology British Columbia, which has allowed the kids to make a documentary about the process of getting a new school. It will be released in the spring.
An open house is planned, but details are not yet available.
